vinyl to 24bit CD

I want to copy vinyl & record it on CD @ 24bit.  What software do I use & what soundcard ?

I'm doing this as a hobby so as professionals please be kind, This is all new to me.

16bit seems a bit archaic. SACD, XRCD, DVD-A is not an option, I have a VINCENT HDCD player that can process 24bit.

Re: vinyl to 24bit CD

What you're looking for is something that can encode HDCDs. I'm not aware of any software package that does this. Microsoft controls HDCD now, and I don't think they've made this available at a consumer level. I can't find pricing for their encoders anywhere, so I'm guessing they're priced starting in the $20-50k range.

my advice: get something like the apogee duet soundcard and a cheap quiet PC. Record your LPs into your computer at 24-bit/96khz. You can then store these as FLAC files (losslessly compressed), and use the PC as a media player. The sound quality will be better than HDCD (which is effectively 20bit/44.1khz).

For software, something like Samplitude Master or Sound Forge would probably do the trick nicely.
