Minor observation

Hey Rip,

Welcome back!

Just a quick observation for you as you shake down the new site.  Using Firefox, when viewing an individual post, if I move the cursor to the title of the post, the vertical size of the title header changes.  If I find just the right spot, it oscillates rapidly making the text of the post jiggle up and down.  Cool, but no doubt unintended.

Just wanted to let you know - feel free to delete this post.  And thanks for all your efforts,

-Jamie Robertson

Re: Minor observation

Hey Jamie - thanks for popping by.  Good to see you again.

Also thanks for the tip, probably just a strange CSS error.  I'll look into it.

Re: Minor observation

Just wondering why this forum always asks me to "Allow access to my Clipboard" ...and then a follow-up wondow asking me tohavemy Word text "cleaned"...?

I don't get that on any other forums. Can that be turned off....?...as it requirtes 3 additional windw clicks every time you do post...

Re: Minor observation

What browser & version are you using, and are you using any browser add-ons that might be relevant?  This forum should not be doing that to you.  I can also tell by the formatting of your posts that the editor is formatting your text differently from others' posts.  Are you selecting "Font" or "Size" for your text?

Re: Minor observation

I'm using IE7...and I do not do any specific formatting.

I just type my posts in Word for the spellchecking...and then I cut/past into the forum posting box.

I use that same process for several other forums....and it is only the ProRec forum that asks me fabout  "allowing access to my Clipboard" and wanting to "clean up" my Word text...???

Re: Minor observation

Gotcha... our editor is designed to preserve Word formatting, whereas other editors won't preserve formatting.  If you use the "Paste as Plain Text" button on the toolbar, then the formatting will be removed (you should use this if you keep using Word).

Re: Minor observation

No...that really doesn't stop  the "Allow paste from clipboard" and the the subsequent "Clean Box Word Text" windows from popping up. I tried all the Paete options...and non of them prevent the Pop-up Windows....

The only way I can avoid all of thae Pop-ups is to switch from your Rich Text Editor to the the Basic Text Box....but then, I have none of the Reply options...only a plaing box. : (

I still find that a bit odd, as other forums allow rich text editing with all types of formating options...and I can just Cut/Paste right out of Word without any pop-ops asking me to "Allow" or Clean up" the Word text.

Re: Minor observation

Oh...is there no option to edit your own post once it's posted...?

I see at the top it says Add/Edit Post...but I see no edit button/option...?

Re: Minor observation

There is a new and very improved version of this forum software that's in the final QA stage as we speak.  I think it will address some of the issues you're seeing, though I'm not sure about the Word pop-ups.  One feature I'm trying to get online is the spell-check.  Perhaps when the spell-check is enabled, you won't need to use Word for this feature.

Re: Minor observation

Miroslav - if you use IE, then you can use IESpell spell checker which is integrated into our editor.  It will install itself when you click the spell-check button in the editor.  This feature is not currently available for other browsers (I use Firefox, so it isn't available for me).  This might eliminate your need to use Word for spell-checking.  Also, I use EditPad for all of my simple text-editing needs.  It's a very useful tool, and has spell-checking built in.  However, it isn't free.

Re: Minor observation

Rip...I just installed ieSpell...so I'll see how it goes.

Only reason I was using Word is because in the past, most forums had lousy spell checkers...so Word became my type/check tool.

Looking forward to the new Forum software version.

Oh...just tried the ieSell on this post...and it works pretty good!
I always hated having to do the Word two-step every time I posted on forums.
